LeBron is an American basketball player for the Lakers. He first gained national attention as the country’s top high school basketball player.

With his unique size, athleticism, and court vision, he is a four-time NBA MVP. After leading Miami to titles in 2012 & 2013, James returned to Cleveland & helped the team to its first championship in 2016.

Early Life and Career in High School Basketball

LeBron was born in December 1984 in Akron, Ohio. James showed an innate talent for basketball at an early age. St. Vincent-St recruited him. In 1999, he joined the St. Mary’s High School basketball team. James totaled 2,657 points, 892 rebounds, and 523 assists over those four years.

As a freshman, James averaged 18 pts per game. He scored 25 points in the championship game, helping the team to the Division III state championship. His superb basketball skills spread, and James’ performance has also won many honors.

As a sophomore in high school, James was named to the “USA TODAY” All-American first team. He is the first sophomore ever to receive the award. The team also won the Division III state championship for the second straight year.

The following school year, James was named High School Boys Basketball Player of the Year & Gatorade Player of the Year by PARADE Magazine. After his junior year, James was such a strong player that he considered turning pro.

After deciding to finish school, James had a fantastic senior year on the court. He averaged 31.6 pts per game, helping his team to their third state championship. St. Vincent – St. Mary High School team also achieved the No. 1 national ranking that year. James will soon be one of the leading players in the National Basketball Association.

Draft

With his impressive record, it’s no surprise that James was the first player selected out of high school in the 2003 NBA Draft. Cleveland signed the powerful young forward, a valuable addition to a then-struggling team. The team finished eighth in the Eastern Conference last season.

Cleveland Cavaliers

James made history in the 2003-04 season when he became the first Cavaliers player to win the NBA Rookie of the Year award. James also became the youngest player to receive the honor at just 20 years old.

James is averaging 20 points per game, becoming one of only three rookies to accomplish the feat.

James continued his impressive NBA career the following season, improving his scoring average to 27.2 points per game. In 2005, he made NBA history again, becoming the youngest player to score 50 pts in a single game.

In 2006, James helped the team beat the Washington Wizards in the first round of the playoffs. From there, the Cavaliers face the Detroit Pistons in the Eastern Conference semifinals. James averaged 26.6 points per game in this postseason, but that wasn’t enough to seal the win for the team. While his team isn’t at the top of the list, James receives special recognition for his abilities.

In 2006, James reached a new contract with the Cavaliers. The team proved a stronger competitor the following season, beating Detroit to win the Eastern Conference. However, the Cavaliers lost four straight title games in the NBA Finals against the Spurs.

In the 2007-08 season, James continued to help the Cavaliers improve the status of the Eastern Conference. The team reached the semifinals, where the Boston Celtics defeated them in seven games. In terms of personal performance, James performed well this year, averaging more than opponents such as Kobe and Iverson, averaging 30 points per game, the highest in the NBA regular season.

Early in the 2008-09 season, sportswriters and fans began discussing James’ future in the sport. James had the option to become a free agent in 2010, & there was a lot of talk about where James would end up. Some reporters have identified the New York Knicks as potential suitors for the rising player.

Miami Heat

After becoming a free agent, He announced that he would join the Miami Heat for the 2010-11 season. His fans in Cleveland were unhappy, with many seeing his departure as a betrayal of his hometown.

Shortly after James’ announcement, Cavaliers majority owner Dan Gilbert wrote an open letter declaring LeBron James’ decision “selfish,” “heartless,” and “cowardly betrayal.” James was undaunted, averaging 26.7 points per game for second in the league in his first season with the Heat.

The 2011-12 season saw great success for James and the Miami Heat. The superstar forward finally earned his 1st title with his team’s victory over the Thunder in the NBA Finals. In Game 5 of the tiebreaker, James had 26 points, 11 rebounds, and 13 assists. “I made the tough decision to leave Cleveland, but I understand my future,” James told Fox Sports after the game. “I know we have a bright future [in Miami].”

In the 2012-13 season, James made NBA history again: On the 16th of January, 2013, at the age of 28, he became the youngest player to score 20,000 points, taking over from the Lakers’ Kobe Bryant – a feat he achieved at age 29 The feat – and became the 38th player in NBA history to reach the honor. James scored a jumper in the game’s final seconds to bring his total to 20,001 and lead the Heat to a 92-75 victory over the Warriors.

Success continued with the Heat until the end of the 2012-13 season: After winning the Eastern Conference title in a six-game series against the Indiana Pacers, Miami beat the San Antonio Spurs in seven games for its second straight title NBA championship.

The 2013-14 season concluded with Miami returning to the NBA Finals to face off against San Antonio again, losing to San Antonio in five games.

Returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers

In July 2014, after opting out of his contract with the Heat & considering other teams, James announced that he would return to the Cavaliers.

LeBron James missed 13 of 82 regular-season games in 2014-2015 due to back and knee problems. When healthy, however, he’s been as dominant as ever, averaging 25.3 points and 7.4 assists per game. James led the Cavaliers to the Finals and became the first player in nearly 50 years to reach the Finals in five consecutive seasons. However, injuries to star teammates Kevin Love & Kyrie Irving dashed his hopes of a third championship, and the Cavaliers lost to the GSW in six games.

During the 2015-16 season, the Cavaliers overcame the distraction of a midseason coaching change to easily make the playoffs and rematch the Warriors, marking “King James “‘s sixth straight trip to the NBA Finals. Perhaps the achievement of his career, he led the team back from a 3-1 deficit, scored 41 points in both Games 5 & 6, then notched a triple-double in Game 7, helping the Cavaliers win their first championship in team history.

James voted Finals MVP, said: “I came back and brought a championship to our city. I know what I’ve learned over the last few years, and if I have to, when I Come back, I have the ingredients and blueprint to help this team get back to where we’ve never been.

The following year, James again paced himself & took charge when necessary, leading the Cavaliers through the Eastern Conference and to an incredible seventh straight NBA Finals. This time, with the addition of former MVP Kevin Durant, the Warriors proved too much for James and his teammates, who won the championship in five games.

Despite all his accomplishments, James recorded another first at the start of the 2017-18 NBA season: After yelling at the referee in a late November win over the Heat, he scored 1,082 career games.

During a frustrating campaign, the superstar may have often wanted to shout, as the offseason trade that sent Irving to Boston Celtics for Isaiah Thomas failed to come to fruition and forced the Cavaliers into the All-Star Game.

Two rounds after the Cavaliers, the scrappy Celtics pushed the game to the limit again, but James scored 81 points over the final two games to clinch the series and advance to his eighth straight NBA Finals.

Game 1 of the rematch against the Golden State Warriors went downhill thanks to James’ 51-point outburst. Still, Cleveland Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith inexplicably dribbled with the game tied for a timeout, and the Warriors won in overtime. It was the Cavaliers’ best chance at a win, as the Warriors easily won their next three games for their third championship in four years.

Afterward, amidst doubts over his future with the team, James revealed that he finished the series with a right-hand injury after a boxing whiteboard after the loss in Game 1.

Los Angeles Lakers

On the 1st of July, 2018, LeBron James announced that he would sign a four-year, $153.3 million contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, starting a new chapter in his career.

The good vibes were gone by midseason when the Lakers played 17 games without an injured star.

With the team still striving in late February 2019, LeBron James blamed his teammates for losing focus on trade rumors, saying: “If you’re still letting distractions affect the way you play, join this team. is wrong, you should come in and say, ‘Listen, I can’t do this.'”

When the Lakers were eliminated from the playoffs in March 2019, James’ streak of 13 straight postseason appearances and eight consecutive NBA Finals ended. After a difficult first season in Los Angeles, the Lakers announced their star would miss the final six games with a lingering groin injury.

The following season got off to a much better start, thanks to the addition of athletic big man Anthony Davis. Leading the Lakers to the top of the standings is James. In November 2019, James became the 1st player to record a triple-double over all 30 NBA teams.
