Kevin Durant, A.K.A. K.D., is a power forward in the NBA. In 2023, the Brooklyn Nets sent him to the Phoenix Suns.

The guy who played so well for the Golden State Warriors in the 2016–17 and 2017–18 NBA Finals might not be forgotten by diehard NBA fans.

Durant has won two NBA titles and was named Most Valuable Player of the Finals both times. He has also triumphed in the NBA Most Valuable Player Award and the Rookie of the Year Award.

Since he joined the NBA in 2007, he has won 3 gold medals at the Olympics (in 2012, 2016, and 2020).

It’s difficult for a team with top players like Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson to put on their best show in the NBA Finals.

Early Life, Family & Education

Kevin was born in Washington, D.C., on September 29, 1988. His parents were Wayne Pratt and Wanda Durant.

When he was young, his parents split up, so his grandmother, Barbara Davis, helped his mother raise him.

Kevin grew up in Maryland with his three siblings, Tony, Rayvonne, and Brianna, who are sisters.

He went to National Christian School, where for two years, he played basketball. When he was 13, his father joined him on trips to basketball events.

After that, he spent a year at Oak Hill Academy. He ended up at Montrose Christian School in Rockville, where he played during his last year of high school.

Kevin was always tall. He was 6 feet tall in middle school, and in high school, he was 6 feet 11 inches (2.11 m) tall.

Vince Carter, who played for his favorite NBA team, the Toronto Raptors, was his hero. He was also in the Amateur Athletic Union, where he played basketball.

He was also named the All-Met Basketball Player of the Year by the Washington Post. He also won the MVP award at the 2006 McDonald’s All-American Game.

Age, Height & Physical Appearances

He is 34 years old and was born under the Libra sun sign. People born under this sun sign are thought to have a reasonable mind and a good sense of right and wrong.

Kevin is 2.1 meters tall, which is a great height.

This is a good height for someone like him who plays basketball. In the same way, he weighs about 108 kg (240 lb.) thanks to regular exercise and a healthy diet.

Kevin’s look would be missing if he didn’t have dark brown eyes and hair. In the same way, he wears U.S. size 18 shoes. We don’t know his body size right now, which is sad.

Durant is of Afro-American background and is a Christian.

College Career

In 2006, Durant started working at the University of Texas. In his first season with the Texas Longhorns, he averaged 25.8 points and 11.1.

Kevin and the Longhorns lost in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Kevin got eight awards in college, including the John R. Wooden Award and the Naismith College Player of the Year award.

He was the first rookie to win either Player of the Year award nationally. Ultimately, the Texas Longhorns removed his No. 35 jersey to honor him.

Professional Career

After his first year with the Texas Longhorns, Durant said he was ready to be picked in the NBA Draught. He was 19 at the time.

The Seattle SuperSonics

In his 1st season in the NBA, he averaged 20.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game.

Also, he was the third teenager in NBA history, after Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James, to score at least 20 points in a season.

The NBA Rookie of the Year title was given to him because of how good he was as a rookie.

The Oklahoma City Thunder

With New Colors – Blue, Orange, & Yellow

After moving to Oklahoma City in 2008, SuperSonics changed its name to the Thunder. Kevin scored 25.3 points per game in his first season with the Thunder.

Also, he played at the NBA All-Star Weekend in 2009 and got 46 points, a record for the Rookie Challenge. He made his first NBA All-Star team the following season. He scored 30.10 points per game during that season.

Durant signed a new five-year deal with the team worth $86 million at the start of the 2010-2011 season.

He also led the team to wins over the Denver Nuggets and Memphis Grizzlies in the playoffs. But they had to drop out of the next round of the Conference Finals.

First NBA Finals

At the 2011 NBA All-Star game, Durant won the MVP award. During the 2011-2012 season, he scored an average of 28 points per game.

He was a big reason the Thunder beat Dallas, the Lakers, and the Spurs in the playoffs. But in the playoffs, they lost 4-1 to the Heat.

During the 2012-13 season, Kevin scored an average of 28.1 points per game. Even though the Thunder was the top team in the Western Conference, they had to lose in the first round of the second round.

Before they lost to the Grizzles, they beat the Houston Rockets.

MVP Of the Season

Kevin had a run of 41 games where he scored at least 25 points. This beat Michael Jordan’s record of 30 games.

During the 2013–14 season, he led the Thunder to 59 wins. He averaged 32 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game. Because of these numbers, he was voted the NBA’s Most Valuable Player of the Season.

Late Days with The Thunder

Due to an injury of a broken bone in his right foot, Durant had to miss the first 17 games of the 2014–15 season. Because of this, he only played in 27 games all season and averaged 25.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 4.1 assists.

The following season, he set an NBA record by scoring at least 20 points in 64 straight games. Durant scored 28.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, and five assists per game in the 2015–16 season.

In the playoffs, he led the Thunder to wins against the Mavericks and Tim Duncan’s San Antonio Spurs in the first and second rounds.

But the Golden State Warriors beat them in the third round, ending their winning streak.

Golden State Warriors

Kevin signed a two-year deal with the Golden State Warriors worth $54.3 million in 2016. People thought it was a good move for someone of his skill level.

In October 2016, he played his first game for the Warriors against the San Antonio Spurs. When the Warriors beat the Thunder, the fans of his old team booed him.

NBA Finals & MVPs

Durant was essential to the Warriors’ run to the NBA Finals in the 2016–17 playoffs. He scored 35.2 points, grabbed 8.4 rebounds, and gave out 5.4 assists per game on average.

The Warriors beat Kyrie Irving’s Cleveland Cavaliers in the playoffs.

He won Most Valuable Player of the NBA Finals but turned down the $27.7 million player option and became a free agent.

Still, on July 25, 2017, he re-signed with the Warriors.

On January 10, 2018, against the Clippers, he scored the 20,000th point of his career.

He averaged 28.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 7.5 assists in the games after the regular season. The Warriors beat the Cavaliers in the NBA Finals for the second straight year, and Durant won the Finals MVP award for the second time in a row.

Final Season with The Warriors

Durant re-signed with the Warriors for another two years at $61.5 million. But he hurt his right calf in the Western Conference playoffs against the Rockets.

He missed nine games because of this. After returning, he fell again and hurt his lower right leg. The Warriors went on to lose the NBA playoffs.

Pranking at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics

At the start of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, a lighthearted joke was played on the NBA MVP from 2014.

The prank where the whole U.S. Olympic team sang K.D.’s birthday song was planned by his old teammate from GSW.

But Kevin turned one in late September. The two-time Olympic gold winner just stood there and looked at everyone with a straight face.

Injury & Covid-19

There’s no question that players get hurt a lot when they play games.
