Let me tell you about a boy who grew up playing hoops in the Democratic Republic of Congo but never had a pair of shoes.

Also, the child wouldn’t eat for days because his parents were poor.

If you want to know who this kid is, you don’t have to worry because it’s Bismack Biyombo.

Biyombo, now 30 years old, had to overcome obstacles in his early life to become the NBA star he is today.

To be clear, the 6’8″ centres signed a $72 million deal with the Charlotte Hornets for four years in 2016.

The Hornets center is also a social worker who helps poor kids back home in Congo so they don’t have to face the same problems Bismack did.

Biyombo did not become a hero who makes $17 million a year in just one day.

Instead, the man from Congo endured many hard times in his early life and during his NBA career.

Bismack Biyombo is a professional basketball player for the Phoenix Suns of the NBA. He was born on August 28, 1992, in the Congo. The Sacramento Kings took him with the 7th overall pick in NBA Draft 2011. The Kings moved him to the Charlotte Bobcats, now the Charlotte Hornets. Biyombo has also played for the Raptors and the Magic in Toronto and Orlando.

Bismack Biyombo | Career & Stats

Unlike most NBA players, Biyombo began his professional career with CB Illescas in the Spanish ACB League and stayed there for two years.

After doing well for the team, Bismack moved to Fuenlabrada, where NBA scouts would be more likely to notice him.

The Congolese were then asked to play in the 2011 Nike Hoops Summit, a game between the best U.S. high school seniors and the best teens from other countries.

Some people would have been happy with being called up, but Biyombo wasn’t one of them.

The former Hornets center showed off his raw ability by getting a triple-double with ten blocks, 11 rebounds, and 12 points while playing against Anthony Davis, who is now an All-Star for the LA Lakers.

So, NBA scouts and general managers who came to watch the game were very pleased.

Bismack said right after the game, “It gave me a chance to introduce myself to the NBA world and see if I could be drafted in the next year or two.”

Biyombo’s dream came true in the 2011 NBA Draft when the Sacramento Kings picked him seventh overall and traded his rights to the Charlotte Bobcats, now the Charlotte Hornets.

When Biyombo was a child in his home country of Congo, he did not have enough money to buy shoes.

But young Bismack no longer had to worry about shoes because in his first year with the Charlotte-based company, he made $2.7 million.

Since the Congolese was a random pick, everyone had high hopes for him after the draught.

The Bobcats center never lived up to his full promise, as he only averaged 10 points, rebounds, or blocks per game.

To give you an example, Bismack’s best season was 2012-2013, when he only scored 4.8 points, blocked 1.8 shots, and grabbed 7.3 boards.

It wasn’t even close to what people had hoped for him when he joined the NBA.

So, the Charlotte team turned down the chance to add one more year to Biyombo’s deal for the 2015–16 season, which made him a free agent.

Biyombo said this after he was let go from the Charlotte Bobcats: “In Charlotte, first you get the chance. But you’re under a lot of stress. I didn’t have the chance to do what I needed to,”

Soon after, the Toronto Raptors signed a two-year, $6 million deal with a player option for the second year.

The 6’8″ center helped the team get to the Eastern Conference Finals by blocking shots and getting boards. He averaged 6.2 points, 1.4 blocks, and 9.4 rebounds per game during the playoffs.

Since he wasn’t the Raptors’ starting center for the 2016–17 season, the Congolese player turned down his player option.

Biyombo, on the other hand, said that even though he was only with the Raptors for one season, he loved the experience of making it to the Conference Finals and the city of Toronto.

Many teams were interested in Biyombo because of how good the Raptors had been recently, but in the end, the Orlando Magic got his services.

In the same way, Bismack got the best deal of his career when he signed with the Hornets.

In particular, the man from Congo signed a four-year, $72 million deal with the Charlotte team.

The 6’8″ centres stayed with the team for two more years, averaging 5.8 points, 1.1 blocks, and 6.4 rebounds per game.

Even though Biyombo didn’t have impressive stats, he was a leader in the locker room who helped new players get comfortable and grow.

Bismack’s time with the Orlando Magic was cut short when he was moved to the Charlotte Hornets, where the 30-year-old first played in the NBA.

After that, the 6’9″ centres scored 4.4 points, grabbed 4.6 rebounds, and blocked 0.8 shots per game, which was unsuitable for a skilled player like Biyombo.

On the other hand, the Congo native could only play 54 times for the Hornets because he was hurt for most of the season.

Biyombo has played in 52 games without getting hurt for the team owned by Michael Jordan, who may be the best player in the history of the NBA.

In the same way, the 6’8″ centres have raised their averages from last season. Bismack, scoring a career-high 7.5 points, 0.9 blocks, and 5.9 rebounds per game, has presented his averages from last season.

The basketball player got a three-year deal with the Charlotte Hornets after Magic.

With 18 games left, the Charlotte Hornets are currently 10th in the Eastern Conference standings.

Also, the team is six games behind Biyombo’s old team, the Orlando Magic, which is in the last playoff spot.

After the 2020–21 season, Biyombo was a free agent who could sign with any team. He didn’t sign with any team in 2021, partly because he was still sad about the death of his father, Francois. Using the COVID-19 hardship exemption, he signed a 10-day deal with the Phoenix Suns on January 1, 2022. Biyombo signed the agreement for the rest of the season on January 11 after he did many good things during his 10-day deal. Biyombo had 17 points and 14 boards on January 17. Five days later, on January 22, Biyombo came off the bench and scored 21 points, grabbed 13 boards, and gave out five assists. Due to Deandre Ayton’s and JaVale McGee’s injuries, Biyombo started again from January 26–30. From January to February 12, when Biyombo played 17 games, the Suns did not lose one.

The Suns re-signed Biyombo on July 5, 2022.

 Age, Height & Body Measurements

The center for the Hornets is 30 years old, which is young for a player who has been in the NBA for 9 years.

On the other hand, based on how he plays and lives, Bismack is much older than his age.

The Congolese center is only 6 feet 8 inches tall, which is a little short compared to other centers in the league.

On the other hand, Bismarck’s short height helps him get off the ground quickly to grab rebounds.

Because he is quick, the center for the Hornets can quickly switch from the forwards to the defenders to guard them.

Ultimately, Biyombo is one of the best bench players who can step in for the starting center when needed.

So, whoever gets Bismack when he becomes a free agent this summer will get what could be the best backup center in the NBA.

Net Worth & Contract

Biyombo is worth a massive $30 million at the time of writing because he has been in the NBA for so long.

For example, the Congolese player is in his ninth season and has already played for three teams: the Toronto Raptors, the Orlando Magic, and the Charlotte Hornets.

Also, until the 2016–17 season, the player for the Hornets made an average of $2.5 million a year. Bismack made $2.2 million in his first season in the NBA.

But before the 2016–17 season, Biyombo signed a new four-year deal with the Orlando Magic that paid him $17 million a year and gave him $72 million.

Bismack has played in the NBA for nine years and has made almost $83 million. This is crazy because the Congo native has spent most of his career time as a backup center.

Biyombo, on the other hand, is a more than capable backup to any of the top centers in the NBA right now because he works hard and never gives up.

Bismack, who is 30 years old, is in the last year of his $72 million deal right now, no doubt that many NBA teams will want to hire him.

Whether the Hornets or another team gets the center, they can be sure they will have an excellent player on their team.

Wife & Family

Biyombo was born in the Congolese town of Lubumbashi to Francois Biyombo and Francoise Ninoy. Also, the 30-year-old has to watch out for an impressive six brothers.

For example, the center for the Hornets, Billy Biyonbo, has three brothers named Biska Biyombo, Bikim Biyombo, and Billy Biyonbo, and three sisters named Bimeline.

Bikelene Biyombo, and Bimela Biyombo.

Bismack also cares about his family and likes to spend most of his time with them.

To emphasize, the man from Congo helped all six of his brothers go to college in the United States so they could get a good education.

Even though he is not married right now, he was in a relationship with a Congolese.

Also, it was said that Bismack was dating the beautiful Colombian-Brazilian Ana Ledesma, who also had cancer and beat it.

For example, Ledesma was all over the 30-year-old’s social media pages.

Unfortunately, it looks like the two are no longer together because Biyombo deleted all the photos of the two of them when they were together.

Since then, information about the basketball player’s personal life has not come out.

The Suns Center has learned from past mistakes and keeps his love life private.
