Where is the next World Cup?
The 2022 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to be the 22nd running of the FIFA World Cup competition, the quadrennial international men’s soccer championship contested by senior national teams of FIFA member associations. It is scheduled to take place in Qatar from 21 November to 18 December 2022. This will be the first ever World Cup to be held in the Arab world and the second to be held entirely in Asia after the 2002 World Cup in South Korea and Japan.
In addition, this tournament will be the last to feature 32 teams, with the 2026 tournament planned in the United States, Mexico and Canada increasing to 48 teams. Due to the scorching summer in Qatar, the World Cup will be played from late November to mid-December, making it the first event not to take place in May, June or July; it will be played on a shortened time frame of about 28 days. The first game of the competition will be played between Senegal and the Netherlands at the Al Thumama Stadium in Doha. The final will take place on December 18, 2022, which is also Qatar National Day. The defending World Cup champion is France.
