Erling Haaland is already appearing to make waves after back-to-back hat tricks. Manchester City has been hopeful for him to make his mark on English soccer, and he’s proven not to disappoint as heir to long-time striker Sergio Aguero.

Haaland Is Dominating The Field

Consecutive hat tricks and nine goals in five games. One assist. This towering Norway striker has had the best Premier League debut of any player in history. Three days after accomplishing the same feat in the second half against Crystal Palace, Haaland’s most recent three-goal haul came in the first half of City’s 6-0 annihilation of Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.

It already appears as though Haaland will succeed veteran striker Sergio Aguero, as City had hoped.

Aguero and former Coventry striker Mick Quinn previously held the record for the most scored goals in a player’s first five Premier League games, scoring eight (from the early 1990s). Haaland has surpassed that, and if he keeps playing like this, it will break additional scoring records.

Guardiola remarked of the striker who scored with his head, right and left foot against Forest, “What Haaland wants is to win titles… knowing him, he would not be happy to break records if we don’t win titles.”

Sergio is a legend who will never lose his place in the hearts of Manchester City supporters. However, Erling is qualified to be there. With Haaland handling the line and City undefeated in five games, they are the overwhelming favorite to win the Premier League.

Even the team’s backup striker is contributing goals. Julian Alvarez, an offseason arrival from River Plate, scored twice in the second half in his first start. With a shot from outside the area, João Cancelo added another impressive goal.

Perfect Start, But Not The Best

Despite their best efforts, these champs aren’t at the top, the title still belonging to Arsenal. After five straight wins, Arsenal has matched its best-ever start to a Premier League campaign with a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa to start the season.

Arsenal was brought to its heels at Emirates Stadium by a corner goal from Douglas Luiz, who also did the same thing in an English League Cup game last week. Gabriel Martinelli’s strike in the 77th minute sealed the victory.

Gabriel Jesus’ third goal of the season in the 30th minute was the only thing Arsenal had to show for their dominance of the game up to that point. “We must maintain that attitude over the entire season,” according to Martinelli.

Steven Gerrard, the manager of Villa, is under pressure due to the team’s four consecutive losses.

Better Late Than Never – Goals, Goals, Goals

In the eighth minute of stoppage time, Fabio Carvalho’s goal was all that Liverpool needed to secure a thrilling 2-1 victory against Newcastle as it fought fearlessly to maintain the intense pace set by Arsenal and City.

Following his Friday club-record transfer from Real Sociedad, Alexander Isak gave Newcastle the lead in the 38th minute on his debut. An offside ruling just denied him a second goal.

Roberto Firmino finished Mohamed Salah’s cross to bring the score level. Still, after a corner melee, the ball popped up off Salah’s shoulder and summer signing Carvalho from Fulham reacted quickly to slam it into the roof of the goal.

Jurgen Klopp, manager of Liverpool, said, “I’m not sure everyone in the stadium remained to believe, but from now on, we have to.” What an admirable ambition from the youngster.

Liverpool started the season by losing all three games but now has two straight victories.

Tottenham’s undefeated record held following a 1-1 draw against West Ham, whose club-record acquisition Lucas Paqueta squandered an opportunity to make his debut with a late winner.

Before the game, West Ham manager David Moyes claimed that Paqueta had just completed his $61.6 million transfer from Lyon and had not so much as passed a ball to his new teammates.

Four minutes from the end, Vladimir Coufal drew the ball out, and Paqueta, who had just come on as a 67th-minute substitute, got confused with fellow newcomer Emerson Palmieri. Instead of taking a shot, they passed the ball 10 meters from the goal to each other. On the sidelines, Moyes knelt to his knees.

Tottenham took the lead after Thilo Kehrer scored an own goal, but Tomas Soucek tied the score.

Two days after sacking manager Scott Parker, Bournemouth drew 0-0 at home against Wolverhampton in the other game.

Endorsement Relationships

Meanwhile, The Yankees are collaborating with one of Europe’s most prestigious soccer clubs.

The baseball’s elites are increasing their ownership position in Italian champion AC Milan. It already has an investment in MLS’s New York City.

According to The Financial Times, a Los Angeles-based fund led by basketball great LeBron James is also investing in a minority stake in the seven-time European champion through RedBird Capital Partners. RedBird is close to finalizing a deal to pay $1.2 billion for the majority ownership of Milan.

In June, the managing partner and RedBird founder Gerry Cardinale announced a tentative agreement to purchase Milan from fellow American company Elliott Management. The closure is taking place by the end of September.

An individual familiar with the negotiations who spoke to The Associated Press on the state of anonymity because the deal’s specifics had not been made public said that Ankees Global Enterprises, the baseball team’s parent company run by the Steinbrenner family, will acquire a stake of about 10% in Milan.

According to the Yankees president Randy Levine, they’re confident that the Yankee brand is the most famous sports brand in the world. They think being affiliated with it can enhance AC Milan’s reputation. Milan refused to comment.

A 20% ownership share in the New York City Major League Soccer franchise, which debuted in 2015, was agreed upon by the Yankees in 2013. The controlling owner is City Football Group, Manchester City’s parent organization.

The Goal

Formed in 2008 with the Dallas Cowboys of the NFL, Yankees Global Enterprises also holds shares in Legends Hospitality and the YES Network.

Levine stated that it came about based on their relationship with Gerry and RedBird that goes back over 25 years; the Steinbrenners were one of the original investors in RedBird when Gerry started it. They worked closely with Gerry developing the YES Network and Legends Hospitality at Goldman Sachs. He participated in the brand work done by Goldman’s brand new Yankee Stadium when they formed RedBird, and YES was purchased back from Disney; RedBird became a partner with them, along with YES.

The Yankees, a 27-time World Series winner, and Milan, a 19-time Italian champion, are entering a different marketing partnership to see game replays televised on the YES Network, just like Manchester City. Additionally, there will be cross-merchandising between the Rossoneri and the pinstripes.

Levine said that they have little familiarity with soccer. They’ve learned a little since their relationship with City Football Group. They also think that it’s a good investment. Just like with Manchester City, they do not intend to get involved in running the soccer side. They leave it to the experts. They’ve got enough to do on the baseball side.

Levine is leading the hunt for a location for a soccer facility for the MLS franchise while New York City plays most of its home games at Yankee Stadium.

Milan has won their first Italian championship in eleven years.

James’ fund, Main Street Advisors, also has partnerships with the Boston Red Sox, Liverpool of the English Premier League, and rapper Drake.

The Financial Times, which broke the initial news of the investments, stated that James and Drake will be passive investors in Milan through the fund and had not purchased direct holdings.
