Tomiyasu granted the request within six weeks as the director resigned with Arteta’s support.
Request from Tomiyasu
Mikel Arteta must make some crucial decisions as Arsenal plays nine games in October and 13 over the following six weeks before the Premier League is suspended for the winter World Cup.
Choosing matchday squads is difficult because Kieran Tierney and Thomas Partey have fitness issues; Rob Holding, Eddie Nketiah, Albert Sambi Lokonga, and Fabio Vieira are all in need of playing time.
This also holds for Takehiro Tomiyasu, who was beaten out for the right-back position by a practical Ben White but had no trouble settling into the new one.
“What is necessary for this league is extremely high, and I’m not content,” Tomiyasu said about his playing time. “When you look at the players chosen as starts in the Premier League games, you will realize what is required to be there. I will work hard to earn my position back.”
Director resigns
Tim Lewis’ decision to leave his position as a partner at the law firm Clifford Chance will benefit Arsenal.
Lewis will reportedly concentrate more on his work at Arsenal as we advance, according to The Athletic. As a supporter, Lewis has helped shape the team’s organization and served as Stan Kroenke’s counselor.
In the All or Nothing documentary, Lewis, a private individual, discussed his friendship with Arteta and how he dealt with the Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang incident. He said: “So, on something like Aubameyang, I am here to support him, challenge him, help him, when he asks for help to respond. I don’t give him football advice; that would be ludicrous.
“I know without a dispute that he is under the most strain since he is the one who is in the spotlight and responding to inquiries, but a team is working behind the scenes to make it happen,” the speaker said.
Saliba Agreement
According to the Evening Standard, Arsenal and William Saliba are negotiating a new contract.
The 21-year-old has been essential to Arteta’s team’s success thus far this season and has started each of the eight games while already tallying two goals. Saliba, who joined Saint-Etienne in 2019, still has two years left. However, he didn’t put his first team debut until the season’s opening match against Crystal Palace, following three loan stints away from the Emirates.
Arsenal is eager to offer the Frenchman a new contract to keep him committed and deter interest in its defensive hero. Arenal had previously questioned his willingness to sign without having a guaranteed spot on the first team, but that is now clear.
