Best SGs Tyler Herro ahead Klay Thompson
The Warriors’ five-time All-Star guard ranks 13th behind Jordan Poole and Tyler Herro. Thompson has missed two straight seasons, so some think there could be a return to his normal average.
Thompson came in 13th, Jordan Poole and Tyler Herro 11th and 12th, respectively. Even at 32, that seems a little disrespectful to Thompson, especially given the defensive weaknesses that both Poole and Herro have shown during the playoffs.
Combine that with Thompson’s stellar performance in the postseason finale, and it’s still reasonable to think he’s a top-10 pick. Thompson averaged 20.4 points last season in 32 starts and starts.
With a torn ACL and Achilles tendon, there’s reason to believe he could relapse, but his shooting was a key factor in his 20-plus points per game.
Thompson shot a career-low 38.5 percent from beyond the arc. His shooting percentage is also below his career numbers. Both should improve over the coming seasons and be consistent as Thompson and the Warriors make the playoffs.
Thompson is a key player in the Warriors’ championship run, and his importance to the team’s ability to become a champion should be important. They clearly don’t, especially when a player like Herro is above him in these rankings.
While many make sense, CJ McCollum and Tyrese Maxie are a few other names that surpass Thompson. The Warriors guard isn’t as athletic as he once was, but the disrespect for the star is real here.
