Brooklyn Nets finding a way to negotiate with Durant while listening to team offers

While Kevin Durant still prefers the Brooklyn Nets trade, and the trade offers the team received didn’t satisfy them, both teams struggled throughout the offseason. The Nets will continue to listen to trade offers, but they also want Durant to change his mind and give their team another chance this season.

“In those 47 days, we now have two different negotiations,” Brian Windhorst said on “NBA TODAY” Tuesday. “One of them, of course, is all the teams that are interested in Kevin Durant and the Nets. We don’t see any significant traction in any of these deals. The Nets are asking a very high price. They get the leverage these teams have. Interest in offering so much didn’t materialize.

“The other negotiation that’s going on right now is a negotiation between Durant and the Nets. A separate negotiation about what he wants back. It’s about 10, 11 days he’s in London with owner Joe Tsai. The significant part of that was before. Tsai and the Nets believed they had an outstanding team. They didn’t think the Kevin Durant trade was good. They wanted him to consider coming back. But Durant made it clear he didn’t Want to play for the Nets with the current coach and current general manager.

“You have to ask yourself, what’s the pathway? What’s the pathway for Kevin Durant going forward with the Nets? Because he was told to trade. He was told not to fire Steve Nash. He was told not to fire Sean Marks. So, what should we do?”
