Liverpool defender Joe Gomez and Tamara Tia have been dating for the last four years and he popped the question on her 22nd birthday Liverpool defender Joe Gomez has proposed to his childhood sweetheart Tamara Tia.

The 21-year-old began dating Tamara four years ago before his move from Charlton to Liverpool.

Gomez, who is currently sidelined through injury, popped the question earlier this week on Tamara’s 22nd birthday with his partner showing off her diamond ring on Instagram.

She accompanied the post with the caption: “27.12.18… A day I’ll remember for the rest of my life.

“The love of my life asked me to marry him… There aren’t enough words to describe the feeling I right now. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.”

Gomez revealed earlier this year that he met Tamara on the bus home from school – before she played a key role in helping him settle on Merseyside.

“I didn’t have much chat, I was quite quiet. But it was all about Blackberry messenger back then. I started messaging and talking and we got to know each other,”

On his move to Liverpool in 2015, he added: “Tamara stayed the first night but was at university in London. She would come up every weekend but, that apart, I was by myself.”

Gomez suffered a fracture of his lower leg in the win over Burnley earlier this month.

He is set to be out of action until late January as he looks to bolster Liverpool’s title challenge.

Saturday’s 5-1 victory over Arsenal sent them nine points clear and continued their impressive unbeaten start.
